STEPS TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY TURF

SOIL ANALYSIS

Soil analysis is used to determine the level of nutrients found in a soil sample. The results of a soil analysis provide an estimate of the amount of fertilizer nutrients needed to supplement the soil. Applying the appropriate type and amount of needed fertilizer will give your yard a more reasonable chance to obtain the desired look.

PELL LIME OR SOLU-CAL

If you have pH problems, you need to apply lime or Solu-Cal. Feeding the soil is a more efficient way of entering calcium into the plant than spraying it . Lime or Solu-Cal conditions the soil and will improve the growth of turf and make it healthier. The correct PH allows the soil to release all available nutrients.

PRE-EMERGENT & FERTILIZER

Pre-emergent herbicides are chemicals that prevent the germinating weeds from establishing in the lawn. Pre-emergent herbicides control annual grass weeds by inhibiting cell division in the young root system. The failure of the root system to develop results in the death of the young seedling weed shortly after germination. Fertilizers are physical compounds given to plants to promote growth; they are usually applied either through the soil, for uptake by plant roots, or by foliar feeding, for uptake through leaves.

AERATION

The benefits can be immense. Aeration is known to improve grass rooting capability, enable the "watering in" of fertilizers and pesticides, to increase air and water flow to the soil, and enhance the generation of microorganisms that will reduce thatch. If your lawn has considerable foot wear, drains slowly, or browns up quickly when dry, the soil is probably compacted. Thatch is the organic layer of material that wedges between your grass and the soil. If it gets thicker than 1/2" to 3/4" it could lead to moisture starvation, foster insect growth, and festering lawn disease.

BROADLEAF WEED APPLICATION

Broadleaf weed control involves management practices that encourage the most favorable conditions for the desired plant species (your grass) that will make it the most competitive it can be. Maintaining a dense stand of turf will reduce all weed problems because the weeds need space, and in most instances, light to germinate in your turf.

STRESS RELIEF FOR GRASS

Stress relief will help with your lawn during extreme environmental conditions. It helps reduce, relieve and rejuvenate your lawn.

DISEASE CONTROL

Damage is often blamed on diseases or insects when climate, environmental conditions, or cultural practices are the real causes. Keeping your grass at the recommended cutting height, 4" and above, reduces the risk of weeds and disease. Cutting frequency, herbicide damage, nutrient chlorosis, soil compaction and aeration are a few possible causes of disease.

RENOVATION SPRAY OUT

Spot treat summer annual grassy weeds, yellow nut grass and nut sedge.

STARTER FERTILIZER & SEED

Starter fertilizer and seed contains all essential nutrients needed to produce the best results regardless of soil quality, and supply all the needed elements which often may be missing in lawn areas. The high levels of phosphorous and potash work to develop strong roots systems, while nitrogen greens and thickens the developing plants.

FERTILIZER

Plants and grass that are fertilized often are bigger, stronger, more disease-resistant, and produce more fruits and flowers than plants which are not fertilized. Homeowners should fertilize plants, such as vegetables, fruits and flowers, because these-presumably modern hybrids- tend to consume much more fertilizer than nature can provide. This also goes for lawns, for example, which have individual grass plants growing very close together- much closer than grass plants would in nature- and therefore have to compete with each other for nutrients.
